I'm a photographer and art director based in Lisbon. For ten years I've shot people for magazines, record labels and brands that would rather look honest than perfect.
Most of my work happens before I press anything: watching how someone stands, what they do with their hands, the second they forget I'm there.

I arrive early and leave the camera in the bag. The first half hour is for learning how the room moves and who looks at whom.
No posing, no "one more". I keep the shutter half-pressed until people stop performing, and then I take one frame, maybe two.
this is the whole job.
Every roll gets a contact sheet and a grease pencil. Most frames are crossed out. The ones I circle are the ones you see here.
